Public Speaking for Immigrants

On the 3rd of October 2024, a middle-aged gentleman of East African descent, walked into a local Neighbourhood Office in Birmingham. With passion and eagerness he repeatedly explained the help he needed to the lady at the reception desk. After four (4) unsuccessful attempts to explain the assistance he needed, the member of staff at that Neighbourhood Office became frustrated at the lack of communication and the gentleman looked hopelessly in despair. Our Lead Facilitator, Samuel Jonathan, observed all that transpired and said to himself, "We can do something about this. No longer should an immigrant go unheard." That very day, he came up with the course title, "Public Speaking for Immigrants".

Public Speaking for Immigrants is an empowering 4-week learning experience focused on communicating with confidence and clarity. Many asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants come to Britain with their culture, mannerisms and habits which include their way of communicating. Even though they speak English, their approach to speaking and communicating is often strange or foreign to the average British person. Sadly, in most cases, the result is frustration, stagnation and sometimes depression. This may even affect the person's ability to get decent-paying jobs or deprive them of lucrative opportunities!

The good news is that "Public Speaking for Immigrants" will equip the participants with rudimentary communication skills and presentation techniques so that they can confidently and convincingly articulate themselves with clarity. 

This wholesome learning experience is for English-speaking people and the scope of this programme does not include teaching or learning the English language.

In order to ensure optimum efficacy, this course is practice-focused. Therefore, the components of this learning experience is 70% practical and 30% theory. The course pattern and regiment shall include:
