Strike-A-Chord understands the priceless role that music plays in the lives of senior citizens. In fact, playing a musical instrument is proven to have even more rewarding benefits for the elderly. Therefore, we offer three (3) of our music-making programmes for care homes and retirement communities: Keyboard Lessons for the Over-50's, Sing Your Moment and the African Percussions Clinic.

Keyboard Lessons

When asked, an overwhelming proportion of the ageing community in Birmingham responded that "Learning how to play the piano" had been a lifelong ambition. Our Keyboard Lessons are fun-filled and made simple for the participants to follow. Our focus is to ensure that the participants learn simple rudiments of how to play the keyboard and have fun with the instrument. Thus, the scope of our programme does not include learning how to read music or coping with cumbersome music score sheets. Conducted LIVE in-person, in a group-coaching format, you can have a one-off session or go with the 4-week programme (once a week for an hour). We provide the keyboards needed for this uplifting learning experience at no additional cost! All sessions shall be conducted on your premises or location of choice.

Sing Your Moment

Choirs and Singing Groups for the elderly are so common that you can find one in every city, town and hamlet. However, SingYourMoment is more exciting and adventurous! Unlike choirs, whereby you predictably sing what is printed out, SingYourMoment is spontaneous and empowers you to make a song out of that very moment. Turning your moments into a song can make the difference between being elated or deflated. Each day comes with its own 24 hours, and we must be prepared to turn each "moment" into a monument! This another group experience which helps overcome loneliness, foster togetherness and improve one's mental wellbeing. African Percussions Clinic

This is an experience of a lifetime! The African Percussions Clinic brings an exciting and uplifting learning experience to your residents. From the rhythmic Talking Drum to the tantalising Cowbell, the diverse range of African percussive instruments date date back to around 3000 B.C. Up to 20 participants can enjoy this African musical experience. You can have a one-off session or sign up for the full programme which runs for 4 weeks (once a week for an hour). All instruments are provided by Strike-A-Chord at no additional cost. All sessions shall be conducted on your premises or location of choice.
