Strike-A-Chord

Music-Making Project

Strike-A-Chord is an uplifting fun-filled music-making project based in Birmingham. In 2022, we started out with "Keyboard Lessons for the Over-50's".  Riding on the phenomenal success we achieved with our Over-50's Community Choir and the Christmas Concert for the Over-50's and their families, we expanded the project to include our African Percussions Clinic and Music-Inspired Learning which features team-building workshops. Additionally, with some of our programmes, we are adopting the African Village concept of intergenerational learning, in which children and young people learn side-by-side with adults and our Over-50's.

These workshops and classes are uplifting, transformational experiences!

Our Story

For many years, the father of our Founder & Lead Facilitator, the late Bishop Jonathan Ayodele Famoriyo, would ask his son Samuel to teach him how to play the organ. Typical of many of us, Samuel kept procrastinating. He repeatedly assured his father that they would start one day. That day never came and Bishop Famoriyo went to his grave with an unfulfilled wish!
Samuel made a vow to fulfil his late father's wish by teaching the elderly how to play the keyboard. Hence, the birth of
Strike-A-Chord.
